Vélib’ x Paris by ARTCRANK

ARTCRANK is an organization dedicated to staging live events that combine a love of cycling with hand-made, limited edition posters. In 2013 they teamed up with Vélib', the renowned Parisian bike share program, to hold an event that celebrated cycling in Paris. A selection of nine artists, three each from the UK, the USA and France, were commissioned to design and screen print a poster based around this theme.

The aspect of Vélib' that I found most inspiring was the freedom it gives you to really explore and immerse yourself in the city. I wanted to create some of that feeling in my poster, to make you explore and get lost within the image. I screen printed the five colour design by hand in an edition of 52, all of which were available for sale at the event.

The show took place in June at the Grand Palais des Champs-Elysées, one of the most prestigious exhibition halls in Paris. After a 10 day run the show was then resituated to Les Docks - Cité de la Mode et du Design, where it continued until October.

Cartoon Network - Madventure

As part of the 2010 YCN Student Awards, Cartoon Network set a brief asking for on-air idents that would encourage kids to realise the power of their imagination.

My concept was a series of spots inspired by video games, where the player solves puzzles using any solution imaginable. The produced example shows how teleportation might be used.

Nike 6.0 Custom Graphic Pack

Nike recently opened three boutique stores in Southern California to house select products from all of its action sports brands, including Nike 6.0, Nike SB and Converse. Each of these stores has a customization bar where customers are able to select blank items like tees, shoes and shorts, and customize them using graphics selected from an exclusive catalogue. With the help of a graphic maestro, they are then able to resize, remix and recolour the art as they see fit.

I was commissioned by the agency PeetKegler to create a set of graphics for use in one of these stores. The collection included a wave illustration and a full set of illustrated numbers.

Lettering for The Washington Post

The Washington Post has commissioned me twice to create illustrative lettering. The first appeared on the cover of the Sunday Business section in October, 2010 to accompany an article about the advantages of building new infrastructure.

The second was for the cover of the Voters Guide edition of the Local Living section in November, 2012. The guide was for the upcoming local elections taking place in Washington.

AD

This small experiment was an attempt to translate my style of illustrated lettering into an animated form.

I hope to eventually expand on this concept and develop a complete alphabet of moving letters.

Amelia & Charlie

Amelia & Charlie asked me to design the logo and stationary for their wedding in Melbourne, Australia. Being creatives themselves, they were eager for something that was fresh and non-traditional.

The ceremony was to be held in the Great Hall of the National Gallery of Victoria, which features one of the world's largest stained glass ceilings. With its tightly arranged shapes and bright colours, the ceiling quickly became the basis for the identity, directly informing the design of the logo and the decorative elements of the stationary.

Modern Art Oxford Shop

Modern Art Oxford had recently made major improvements to their gallery shop and they were keen to develop a unique identity for it. As part of this plan, I was asked to design a distinctive poster that would show off some of the design-led products that they have on offer.

Logos

A selection of logos and wordmarks created for personal and client projects.
